As the title suggests, I’ve created this blog solely for my upcoming trip to Eastern Europe (Yes, I’ve finally paid all my flights and Eurailpasses today. Yay!). I suppose it’s gonna be something like a travel journal - only I won’t get to post everyday. You don’t often get a chance to get online when you’re on the road. And when you do, by the time you finish checking your emails your time is running out you don’t have time to write much. But I’ll try my best.
I was gonna set up my own blog on my website - www.travel-bugs.com - like
the one I did for my trip last year, but then I thought.. why not?
Depending on how this blog goes, speed-wise (it seems unacceptably slow at the moment) - I might still end up setting one up
myself.
Anyway, this will be my third trip to Europe, and my first visit to most of the Eastern European countries, except for Hungary and Austria.
I’ve spent the whole Easter break planning and researching for this trip, and come up with this rough itinerary:
- Leaving Brisvegas on 29 Jul. Staying overnight in Seoul, Korea. Arriving in Prague, Czech Republic, the next evening.
- From Prague I’ll be making my way down to Cesky Krumlov, a little town in Bohemia.
- From there I’ll be making my way to Vienna, Austria, then on to Bucharest in Romania on an overnight train.
- From Bucharest to Brasov to visit the Dracula Castle in Bran.
- From Brasov to Budapest in Hungary, then on to Ljubljana in Slovenia.
- From Ljubljana to Bled and then possibly back to Ljubljana before heading off to Zagreb in Croatia.
- From Zagreb I’ll be continuing my journey down south to Split and Dubrovnik - possibly by bus.
- I will have to make my way up from Dubrovnik back to Split at some stage, and catch a flight to Rome from there.
- Am planning to spend a couple of days in Rome, and pay my second visit to the Vatican City. Didn’t get to go inside the Basilica last time I went there because they were holding a mass at the Piazza - I got to see the Pope though!
- Leaving Rome on 31 Aug. Arriving back in Brissy on 2 Sep.
Ahh I’m so excited. Four months to go now. Woohoo!
